Cribbage
Badge tips Be sure to select the correct game score for your badge in the table options! Be sure to select a room on the 4-player tab for the Ultraviolet badge! Be sure to select Rated game in the table options for the 2 for His Heels and Cozy Crib badges! Also be aware you can't play rated games against Pogobots - you must play with humans. Serious, rated Cribbage players probably won't be willing to let you win 8 games as that would reduce their rating, so find a friend or cooperative partner for this one if you don't know how to play. Ratings for two players taking turns will be relatively unchanged if each player wins an equal number of games, but they could vary a bit depending on the game scores. To earn the 31 or Skunkin' Skunk badge, you have to play a card that results in a pile total of exactly 31. It takes awhile but is a bit easier if you send your highest value cards to the crib and play your highest remaining cards early in each hand. Low value cards (aces, 2s, 3s) will give you more opportunities to inch the pile total up to 31. Aces are worth 1 point, 2s-10s are their face value, and face cards are 10 points. To earn the 1 for His Nobs badge, you need to have the jack of the same suit as the starter card in either your hand or your crib, so never send jacks to your opponent's crib. Note if you have the His Nobs jack and the game ends before your score is counted, you won't get credit for it. For badges requiring wins, see Game tips Game tips ALWAYS read a game's How to Play, and also check for a Hints or Tips tab and/or Tutorial. They do help! You can win games with Pogobots, but if you don't know how to play or aren't very good, you'll do better in a The easiest way to earn game win badges is to play with a friend or cooperative partner and take turns winning. You don't have to know how to play the game - the game highlights which cards you can legally play. Eventually one person or the other will win, even if neither player has a clue how it happened. If playing with a human partner against two Pogobots and the bots are about to win, you & your partner can each stand and take the bots' seats. Be sure "Allow players to replace computer players" is checked in the table options, and be sure to stand & change seats one at a time or the table will close. If you want to improve your game, pay attention to the points per hand at the end of each round to learn ways to make higher hand and crib scores. Otherwise you can skip it by clicking Begin Next Deal. In short, you earn points by laying cards onto the pile that combine with the top card(s) already laid down to make pairs, 3 or 4 of a kind, or runs of 3 or more; or when the total value of the cards in the pile is exactly 15 or 31. Players rotate holding the "crib", which each player contributes to before playing the hand. The player holding the crib earns additional points if it contains the above point-earning combinations and/or if it contains a flush of 4 or more cards. Multiples earn extra points: for instance, a crib containing several card combinations totaling 15 will earn 2 points for each combination. The dealer contributes an extra "starter card" to the crib that's revealed after everyone contributes to the crib. A starter card that's a jack is called "His Heels" and is worth an extra 2 points for the crib. If anyone has the jack of the same suit as the starter card, it's called "His Nobs" and is worth 1 extra point. More about Cribbage Like most classic games, Cribbage is relatively easy to learn but difficult to master. This game has no jackpot spins. The player whose leading peg on the scoreboard reaches the Win zone first is the winner, regardless of who went first. Cribbage makes audio announcements for certain point-earning plays - don't be startled. The Glossary link in How to Play explains what they are. |
