Badge tips

Be sure to set to Easy difficulty for Crimson Crustacean, and to Medium difficulty for Lil' Crabby! Note that puzzles you've already attempted will not count for these badges.

Time Limit, Perfect Pen, and Filled Month are Game Awards that are separate from rank progress.

You need to set options for a timed game for the Time Limit badge.

Game tips

ALWAYS read a game's How to Play, and also check for a Hints or Tips tab and/or Tutorial. They do help!

Stars on the grid indicate power-ups, which become available when you correctly complete the word they're in. The number of power-ups available is indicated in the star on the left. Clicking it will use a power-up and fill in the most common letters in your puzzle.

Easy skill level has four power-ups and will indicate & lock letters when a word is correct. Medium has two power-ups and will indicate & lock letters when a word is correct. Hard has no power-ups and no correct indication until you complete the puzzle and hit All Done.

Clues and answers usually have the same tense if verbs, and clues will often indicate if the answer is plural. Work between across & down clues to solve an area of the grid.

This is a basic crossword puzzle, similar to the daily crossword that's been on Pogo for some time, with the addition of ranks, badges and power-ups.

You can double click a square in the grid or hit your space bar to toggle between across and down clues and placement.

If you're stuck, you can click Hint and then Solve if the hint didn't help.

You can hit Expanded Clue List to see all clues together in their own window.

Traditional crossword grids are always split into two halves that are mirror images of each other.
