Badge tips

Be aware of the 30 minute time limit for Flimsy Façade, the five hour time limit for World's Biggest Coffee Cup, and the one day time limit for Riches to Rags!

For Strive for Fives or World's Biggest Coffee Cup, focus on the "of a kind" stack. You'll need to clear 2, 3 and 4 of a Kind before you can complete a 5 of a Kind card, and you can only complete one per game.

It's easier to complete 5 of a Kind in auction games if you win star or extra dice, but auction games take about 10 minutes each so you have to get one in every game to get World's Biggest Coffee Cup within the time limit. Non-auction games take a minute or two less. Watch your remaining time by refreshing the Pogo home page if you aren't getting 5 of a Kind in each game. If you're running short, you can try room-hopping if you get 5 of a Kind in the 2nd quarter or early in the 3rd.

Select a room on the Auction tab for Dice City 300 as auctions cards won count towards this badge (and also towards rank progress).

Alternately for Card Cruiser, Riches to Rags or Love in Dice City - since auction cards don't count - you can play faster games in generally less crowded rooms on the No Auction tab.

Also for badges requiring you "clear cards", "clear bonus" cards are included in badge count tallies so concentrating on two or three types of card stacks can give you a couple extra cards for these badges.

For "clear bonus" badges, you must fill the same type of card four times to clear its stack and earn the bonus. Filling the All Even/All Odd cards will be easiest until you get the hang of the game. Winning Star or Extra Die auctions will give you more chances to fill your cards.

To guarantee auction wins for the Sold! or Dice in the City badges (and in general), play in a room alone. For better chances to win auctions with other players, play in a small room with friends or cooperative players who agree not to bid on the same auction cards. It's easier to find rooms with zero or few players on days other than Wednesdays, or late at night (approx. 11pm to 4am Pacific Time).

You don't have to complete cards for the Mogul, Blazin' Dice, or Dice Dice Revolution badges. Winning Extra Die or Star auctions will give you a few extra dice for these badges.

Game tips

ALWAYS read a game's How to Play, and also check for a Hints or Tips tab and/or Tutorial. They do help!

Jackpot spins are earned by the top scorer in a room and/or every player who earns at least 800 points. A decent player can earn 800 points in most games so it's silly to bid on high value auction cards in my opinion, as there's no other bonus for being #1 in a room other than pride and a few extra tokens.

Playing in a room alone guarantees a spin no matter what your score is.

Star and Extra Die auction cards are more valuable than points cards as they'll help you get more points towards your spin and they also help you fill more cards for your rank progress. Given some luck, a good player will often beat someone who wins every points auction anyway, especially if they use Star and/or Extra Dice.

Clicking a card will automatically place any die that can go onto it, beginning with the highest option. Example: say you have a 1 and a 6 available. Your Straight card has 2-3-4-5 and your Three of a Kind has 6-6. Clicking the Straight card will put the 6 onto it and then you can't complete your 3 of a Kind this round. It's better to drag the dice to the cards you want them on, but you have to be quick.

Always fill 2 of a Kind and Exactly 7 cards as soon as possible to get those stacks started towards a clear bonus. Often they can both be filled in the first turn.

Exactly cards require high value dice so don't start Full House or Of a Kind cards with 5s or 6s, and use 1s for Straights rather than 6s. Also, try not to start Full House or Of a Kinds with the same value dice.

Don't spread your dice around all the cards early in the game if you can help it. Try concentrating on two or three types of cards, and place leftovers on the remaining cards in ways that will make a good start on them. Don't start new cards that will need the same dice as your focus stacks - put those extras on Odd/Even.

Points are earned by the total value of the dice on completed cards, plus card values which are based on difficulty of the odds to complete them. Card values are highest for Straights at 45 each/180 total when cleared. Exactly cards are worth 15-25-35-45/120 total; Full House are 35 each/140 total; and Of a Kind are 20-30-40-50/140 total. Even/Odd have the lowest value at 10 each/40 total so you should only use them as a last resort (at least after you've learned to play the game). Keeping these comparative values in mind can help you get higher scores and spins. Each stack gives the same 50 point bonus when cleared.

Pay attention to what round you're in! For instance, don't start a 5 of a Kind card in the 2nd round of the 4th quarter if you have other options for those dice, as you probably won't be able to complete it. Similarly, if you can't complete any of your cards in the last round but you can fill an All Odd or All Even, do so. It won't add many points but all cards count evenly towards rank progress.

Don't feel tied to rooms on the Auctions tab. Auctions can be fun and can earn you extra points, rank cards, or 3, 6 or 9 extra dice per game if you're lucky. But auction games take longer to play than non-auction games, so overall badge & rank progress comes out about even. Non-auction rooms usually have fewer people.

More about Dice City Roller

There used to be a glitch that would guarantee a safe spot for Scratch cards, but it seems to have been removed from the game - sorry!

Gameplay is similar to the classic dice game Yahtzee (which is now available on Pogo), as is Dice Derby. The game layout, pace, leaderboard and rank progress announcements are similar to Lottso!

This game ranks up fast early but slows down midway through the ranks. It takes some serious time and dedication to get the final badge.
