Euchre
Badge tips Don't be confused by "Right Bower" for the Duke Euchre, Right Bower, or Fetch the Card badges: it simply means the Jack of the trump suit, which is the highest card in Euchre. (The Jack of the same color as the trump suit is the "Left Bower".) Be sure to "order up" the first card if you hold the the Jack of its suit. If the first card is passed all around and you're given the option to select the trump suit, select any suit in which you hold a Jack. Note you don't get credit for these "Bower" badges when your partner plays the Jack of Trump - you must play it yourself. For badges requiring wins, it's relatively easy to win against Pogobots but taking turns winning with friends or cooperative players helps it go faster. Two humans can work as a team against Pogobots: if it looks like the bots are going to win, you can each stand and then take the bots' seats. Just be sure to stand & re-seat yourself one at a time or the table will close. Be sure to select Rated game in the table options for the Euchre Planet badge! Also be aware you can't play rated games against Pogobots - you must play with humans. Serious, rated Euchre players probably won't be willing to let you win 5 games as that would reduce their rating, so find a friend or cooperative partner for this one if you don't know how to play. Ratings for two players taking turns will be relatively unchanged if each player wins an equal number of games, but they could vary a bit depending on the game scores. For game win badges, refer to Game tips. Game tips ALWAYS read a game's How to Play, and also check for a Hints or Tips tab and/or Tutorial. They do help! If you "order up" the first card, it goes to the dealer's hand and becomes the trump suit. The dealer must then discard another. "Order up" the dealt card if you're dealing and can use it or if it's a low card that you can beat; otherwise it's generally safe to pass. Check table options when joining a game to make sure you're aware of the table's rules. More about Euchre This game has no jackpot spins. Card rankings (high to low) are: Jack of trump suit; Jack of the same color as trump suit; Ace of trump; King of trump; Queen of trump; Jack of trump; Ten of trump; Nine of trump; followed by the remaining Kings, Queens, Jacks, Tens and Nines. This game's how-to includes a notice that is not included in all Pogo games: "All shuffles and deals of the cards are completely random. There are no modifications to the deals based on the situation of the game." Game play is similar to Hearts, Spades, Pinochle and Bridge. Each game has unique differences as far as high/low cards, bidding and scoring, but all are 4-player games consisting of 4-card rounds ("tricks") with a designated high "trump" suit for each round. If you can play any of these games you can easily learn the others, with the possible exception of Bridge due to its complex bidding system. |
