Jungle Gin
Badge tips Be sure to check multi-game match and the correct match points on the table options for badges requiring match wins! Be sure to check Oklahoma Gin on the table options for badges specifying Oklahoma! Oklahoma Gin is the same as the regular game except that the first card turned up determines the minimum amount you can knock with, rather than the usual 10. If the first card turned up is a spade, the winner's score is doubled. For "get gin" badges against a Pogobot, consider checking "Don't Allow Knocking" in the table options to reduce the chances of the bot going out first by knocking (which they do often, and quickly). You'll still have to go out with gin first though. For "underknock" badges, be sure "Don't allow knocking" is not checked on the table options! Underknocking your opponent means you have fewer points for unmelded cards ("deadwood") than your opponent when they knock. To earn underknock badges, work toward having as few deadwood points as possible and do not knock or go gin - wait for your opponent to knock. Multi-game match challenges go quicker than they sound, as there are large bonus awards for box scores (hand wins) and game bonuses (game wins). Box Scores and Game Bonus points are not Gin points and don't count toward Gin points badges (or ranking up); however the doubled score in Oklahoma if the first card is a spade does count as Gin points (and toward ranks). You don't get notification of having won some Jungle Gin badges until you start a new hand or game. At this time there is a programming error that affects Tikka's Badge. If you lose the final game but your box scores & game bonus points put you over 700 match points and your opponent has fewer total match points, you won't get badge credit for having won the match. You'll have to play another game. For game win badges, refer to Game tips. Game tips ALWAYS read a game's How to Play, and also check for a Hints or Tips tab and/or Tutorial. They do help! The easiest way to earn game win badges is to play with a friend or cooperative partner. The designated loser should collect high cards and discard low, making sure to break up any runs or 3-of-a-kinds. For faster badges, the designated winner should wait for gin rather than knocking, so the loser can't lay off any cards. Try to arrange your hand so your deadwood cards work toward making melds of low cards so you won't get stuck with a lot of points if you lose. Don't limit yourself to needing one specific card. For instance, don't hang on to the 7 & 9 of hearts as the odds of getting the 8 of hearts are small. If you have the 6 & 7 of hearts, either the 5 or 8 will complete a meld. Try to set up your hand for "either/or" options. For instance, if you have the 4 of clubs, 4 of hearts and 5 of hearts, you can complete a meld and have a discard if you get the 4 of spades, 4 of diamonds, 3 of hearts or 6 of hearts. For more points per game, consider selecting "Aces are low or high" in the table options. This will not only give you more options to play your aces, but they'll be worth 15 deadwood points each rather than 1 point.. just try not to get stuck with one or two deadwood aces if your opponent wins! Also consider playing Oklahoma Gin as it offers double points if the first card up is a spade. Pogobots are especially tricky in this game. They tend to come back with a vengeance toward the end of a game or match, even if you've got a good lead. Your best bet to beat a bot is to play without knocking, but you'll have to get gin before the bot does. If you play with knocking and can go out, consider holding off until you have gin or very low deadwood cards to increase your chances of winning. The shuffles also seem suspect in this game. More often than not, you'll hold out hoping to receive a specific card, then as soon as you change course and discard your partial meld, the card you needed comes along. Similarly, if you aren't interested in say, kings, three or four kings will often come along in a row and you miss out on a ready-made meld. Stay flexible and be prepared to change your meld plans mid-game. When playing against a human, you can sometimes tell if they've completed a meld and/or are getting ready to go out. Watch if they discard the same card they drew or if they save it and discard another; and watch to see if they rearrange their cards by moving several cards to one end or another of their hand. More about Jungle Gin Most Challenge badges in this game were first offered before Jungle Gin had ranks. You can double-click the card you wish to draw and/or discard rather than dragging. Be aware that the "Aces are low or high" table option means means aces are high or low, not high and low. In other words, you can make a runs of Ace-2-3 or Queen-King-Ace, but you can't make a run of King-Ace-2. If you experience freezing or if parts of the playing area starts to disappear, clear your browser's cache & cookies, and/or reboot your computer. Don't run any other programs than necessary when playing this game. Adding RAM or upgrading your graphics card can also help. Pogo's Help section has additional suggestions and system settings for smoother game performance. It's possible to finish a game even when sections of the game area disappear. When it's your turn, drag a card across the problem areas (which usually follow the butterfly's path) and the missing pixels should reappear. This game ranks up relatively fast in the early ranks but slows down midway. It takes a lot of time & dedication to finish the game and earn the final badge. Many badges overlap themes or characters between games, but the Snow Pop badge seems to have everything to do with Poppit! and nothing to do with Jungle Gin.
