Badge tips

Be aware that you have to finish rounds with $1 or more to get credit for Penguins on Ice, Gemini, Penguin Line-up, (and possibly for Freeze Frame Photo).

Be aware of the 6 hour time limit for Penguin Antics! Basically you just need to retire once for this badge.

To make combos for Penguin Profits or Gemini, connect two seafood pieces together first and then bring Bob to them. Note that combos of three or more count as one for these badges, so don't bother making fancy combos - concentrate on just making pairs.

For Evil Evil Penguins and Frozen Pizza, refer to Game tips.

Game tips

ALWAYS read a game's How to Play, and also check for a Hints or Tips tab and/or Tutorial. They do help! The Penguin Blocks tutorial is available when you first enter a game.

Use right-click to turn puzzle pieces! Often a piece will form a path when placed in one direction but not another.

Take advantage of Undo to try something different when penguins threaten or grab some food. You can Undo each move back to the start of the round without penalty.

Watch the Next piece to better plan your moves. To use the Next piece rather than the current one, simply click on it.

Sometimes it's worthwhile sacrificing lower value seafood to the penguins if it lets you get the high priced stuff and/or make combos. Seafood is worth more when grabbed in the same move as another piece(s), and the more pieces you can get in one move, the more they're worth.

Before using the Single Space, Freeze or Red Herring power-ups, weigh the cost against the value of the seafood you can get with them. (Cursor over a piece of seafood to see what it's worth.) Each power-up costs more each time you use it within a round, and there are only three of each type per round.

You can use the Red Herring to distract as many penguins as you can fit into its "preview" area, but be sure their route to the Red Herring doesn't cross a piece of seafood.

The Single Space power-up piece can be placed without the penguins advancing (as long as it doesn't connect you to some food), so in effect it gives you a double turn if you place it before a regular piece. However, you have to make a move before using the Single Space piece a second time.

Take advantage of ice holes to get from one place to another. Bob will go in & out of holes with the same color arrows automatically if he can reach seafood by doing so.

It's usually a good idea to go for pizza when it shows up as it's worth more than most of the seafood and it only stays on-screen for seven turns. If you Undo back to before a pizza appeared, it might or might not come back in that round.

If you connect a path to some seafood, you'll almost always reach it before the penguins even if they're right next to it. Sometimes one will grab a piece on a path while you're getting another in a combo - if this happens, simply use Undo and Freeze the offending penguin.

More about Penguin Blocks

This game only saves your progress after choosing an upgrade and getting a spin, so finish the upgrade section you're working on before leaving.

You start each round at a deficit (for the area's "fishing license") so you must get at least some seafood in each round to advance.

Difficulty levels on this game don't make as much difference as in most games. You usually have an extra penguin or two on harder levels but there's usually more seafood too. You can make progress in this game a lot faster on Expert once you know how to play.

If you click OK twice quickly at the end of a round, you'll sometimes get credit for double your dollar amount (helping you rank up faster), and for more games won than played. Note there's no guarantee this glitch will continue to work.

At the end of a round, Bob says "Whoo hoo!" if he's gotten all the seafood in the round. His expression at the table changes according to how much money you finish the round with.. $100 or more makes him happiest.

It's easy to make over $100 in most rounds when you get the hang of the game. It's possible to make $200 and more in some rounds with multi-combos and pizza.

Originally this game had only three of each type of restaurant upgrade. More were added and now there are six of each type, of which you're given three to choose from each time you upgrade.

Yes, the tablecloth with the crayons has Poopy written on it.

Nobody knows why Bob's so easily bored, or why he wears a Santa suit year-round.
