Pop Fu
Badge tips Be aware of the one day time limit for Rising Sun! You don't have to play the Speed round for badges requiring a number of Main round puzzles or Main round balloons, or badges that require you reach the Speed round. You can just hit New Game once you've completed the Main round for these unless you want the spins. Be sure to set difficulty level to Medium or Hard for Power Popper or Karate Chop! This game has relatively low spins so badges requiring a number of tokens may take a while. For game win badges, refer to Game tips. Game tips ALWAYS read a game's How to Play, and also check for a Hints or Tips tab and/or Tutorial. They do help! Before starting to pop, check the number indicating how many balloons you can leave, and where far apart or single same-color balloons are in order to get an idea of how you should begin a puzzle. For instance, if you can leave one and you only have one of a color, you know that's the one that can be left over. Save throwing stars until you need them - they're generally more useful in the Speed round than the Main round. You can have a maximum of three at any time. If you're stuck or fail a puzzle, you can click Give Up to see how to solve it. It's good to do this at first to see how to better play the game. Otherwise you can hit Give Up and then Next to move quickly to a new puzzle. If you finish with one less than the number above the balloons (or two less if you used a hint or throwing star), you'll go to the Bonus game. It's just for tokens, throwing stars or extra Speed round time - it has no bearing on your wins or rank progress. The Speed round "game over" fish seems to rotate in a somewhat circular pattern in successive Bonus games in a session. If the Speed round music makes you nervous, just turn the volume down or off - you probably have enough time to finish if you don't get stressed. If you're stuck on a puzzle, click Next rather than waste time trying to figure it out. Use Undo to turn failures into solves! You can Undo back to the beginning of any puzzle if you're determined to solve it. However, you'll earn throwing stars, extra tokens or Speed round time if you solve a puzzle without using Undo or hints. If you use a throwing star and still can't solve the puzzle, hit Undo to get your star back. When you have a block at the top, it means balloons in that column can't slide into another column when cleared, so you need to take a bit of extra care to solve these. If you have a block with a diagonal bottom corner, it means balloons in that column can slide over - and up- into the column on the side next to the diagonal edge. These are tricky and usually just show up in Medium or Hard difficulties. More about Pop Fu Click on your belt on the pole behind Spike to find out how much farther you have until the next rank. Lights on the pagoda tower on the right indicate how close you are to finishing a Main round. You'll lose lights for failing a puzzle, but at a slower rate than you earn them. When balloons are shifting up or sliding over into cleared spaces, you don't have to wait for them to move into place to keep popping - you can click on a balloon that's part of the next match while they're still moving. If you complete all the ranks and earn the Black Belt badge, you can do it all again and earn Degrees of Black Belt up to 20. Gameplay is similar to Poppit! and The Poppit! Show, but on a smaller scale. All three games feature Spike the potted cactus. Rank progress is faster on Medium than Easy, and fastest on Hard. If you find you're solving most of the puzzles easily, try the next difficulty level. This game ranks up very slowly. It takes a lot of time & determination to earn the Black Belt final badge. The Zen badge was the first weekly Challenge ever offered on Pogo, back in June 2003. At this time, Pop Fu is tied with Squelchies for having had more weekly challenges (15 each) than any other game. This game has very pretty, relaxing sounds when minimized. |
