Badge tips

Be aware of the 20 minute time limit for Whale of a Time, and the 18 minute time limit for Magic Pearl! Set to the hardest difficulty you can clear efficiently for an easier time getting these - sometimes Easy is best.

Be sure to set difficulty level to Medium for Squelchies in Love, to Easy (or harder) for Squelchy School, and to Medium (or harder) for Speak Squelchese, Magic Starfish or Sea Horse!

For Blowfish, Big Big Blowfish or Blowin' Bubbles, you'll get the opportunity to activate the blowfish much faster on Medium or Hard than on Easy. Hit New Game until you get the pink fish on each side, then match a solid with a silhouette fish in the squelchies to activate the blowfish.

For badges requiring you reach the Bonus Round, clear a King squelchy (wearing crowns & beards) five times to light up the B-O-N-U-S letters on the left. They come fairly quick playing on Easy. Watch for them to appear in the top row, then clear a path to them.

For badges requiring tokens, you'll earn more playing on harder difficulty levels, for playing the bonus game, and for completing waves & getting spins.

For badges requiring combos, you need to create chain reactions that knock out three groups of squelchies. These are easiest on Easy as you only need three squelchies to form a group. Using the power-ups (star, whirlpool or blowfish) can help in forming the chain reactions. See also Pogo's help page for these badges.

Game tips

ALWAYS read a game's How to Play, and also check for a Hints or Tips tab and/or Tutorial. They do help!

Be aware that you only need to group three squelchies together on Easy. You need to make groups of four for Medium or Hard, and groups of five for Expert.

You'll get more credit for clearing larger groups of squelchies. Moving smaller groups aside to put them "on hold" and then joining them with matching smaller groups can help make large groups.

Activate the blowfish power-up when the pink fish on the sides are next to the squelchies in the playing field. If they "blow" when they're below the main group, the blowfish will be wasted.

The star power-up is usually more effective in clearing squelchies than the blowfish & whirlpool.

Watch the treasure chest at the bottom. After you play several rounds it will only show one color gem. At that point you'll only get credit for clearing squelchies of that color. You can hit New Game to start over with all colors earning credit, but you'll lose any B-O-N-U-S letters you've accumulated.

More about Squelchies

It's very unusual for a game to have badges with names as similar as Seahorse and Sea Horse.

Oddly, the February 4, 2009 badge has the same name as the Rank 50 badge, but Squelchy/Squelchie is spelled differently.

February 4, 2009's 19th badge puts Squelchies in the lead with more weekly challenges than any other game.
