Badge tips

Be sure to set to Hard difficulty for Escape by Air!

Be aware of the four hour time limit for Scratch Attach!

For "reach the Speed Round" badges, you don't have to play the Speed Round. You can hit New Game once you've reached it (but be aware the difficulty level can reset to Easy this way when doing the Escape by Air badge!)

You can hit Take Score as soon as it's lit up to go directly to the Speed Round.

For "munch veggies" badges, you'll get one for every few words you find. You don't have to get all five possible in each game - you'll get credit for the ones you reach. Veggies in the Speed Round (there are three) also count for these badges.

For "win tokens" badges, you'll earn more by finding every word including the Speed Round, and for playing on harder difficulties.

Game tips

ALWAYS read a game's How to Play, and also check for a Hints or Tips tab and/or Tutorial. They do help!

Remember that letters have to be adjacent to each other, but you can "move around" the letter set in any direction.

Whenever you find a word, see if you can find another by adding S, ER, ED, etc. to the end of it or DE, UN, etc. to the beginning.

The word list is in alphabetical order. When you have one or two missing words you can decipher which letters they begin with based on their position in the list.

When you've found enough words for Take Score to light up, you can click it to go to the Speed Round and skip the rest of the words, but you won't get as many tokens or rank progress if you do.

The Speed Round has some very uncommon words but they repeat a lot.

You can type letters in this game rather than mouse-clicking them. Other keyboard shortcuts are enter key to submit, spacebar to mix up letters, backspace to undo, and escape to go right to the Speed Round (Take Score) in the Main Round.

Hitting the escape key in the Speed Round is equivalent to Pass, which inserts a new word but imposes a time penalty.
